Jon Bottoms
Triathlete
Jonathan is a 37 yr old triathlete from Orchard Park, NY, where he lives with his wife and two daughters. He’s a Syracuse University graduate and works for a distributor of floor covering materials. While at Syracuse, he was on the varsity rowing team, being the only walk-on member to make 1st boat, beating out other scholarship athletes. He is also a recreational runner, having finished the Marine Corp Marathon, Rock & Roll 1/2 marathon, several Boilermaker 15K and numerous local 5K races.
In 2008, Jonathan decided to compete in triathlon, concentrating on sprint and olympic distance courses. He was second overall points finisher in the “Score-This” multisport sprint series. He is a member of the Buffalo Triathlon Club, Nickel City Splash masters swim team and Niagara Frontier Bicycle Club.
For 2009, Jonathan mixed a short and long course schedule with Ironman Rhode Island 70.3, Ironman Florida, Chicago Tri, U.S. Open/Lifetime Fitness Tri and USAT Nationals. At Nationals, he succeeded in qualifying for Team USA to compete at the ITU World Championships in Budapest, Hungary in 2010. With a 9:52 Ironman time in Florida, Bottoms is also a 2009 USAT All-American.
2010 is Championship year! Already qualified for ITU (Olympic distance) worlds, Bottoms competed at Ironman Florida 70.3 and qualified for the Ironman 70.3 Championships in Clearwater, FL in November.
