Jon Bottoms
Jonathan is a 37 yr old triathlete from Orchard Park, NY, where he lives with his wife and two daughters. He’s a Syracuse University graduate and works for Great Northern Associates, a wholesale distributor of floor covering materials. While at Syracuse, he was on the varsity rowing team, being the only walk-on member to make 1st boat, beating out other scholarship athletes. He was previously a recreational runner, having finished the Marine Corp Marathon, Rock & Roll 1/2 marathon, several Boilermaker 15K and numerous local 5K races. He is a member of the Buffalo Triathlon Club, Nickel City Splash masters swim team, Niagara Frontier Bicycle Club, and Checkers Athletic Club.


Now in his 4th year, Bottoms is a 2 time USAT All-American, 2010 Team USA member, is going to the Ironman 70.3 World Championships for the second time, finished Ironman Florida (9:52) and Ironman Lake Placid (10:04), has completed 6 1/2 Ironman events, Chicago Tri, St. Anthony's Tri, Dallas U.S. Open, USAT Nationals, ITU World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, and several regional events.

Long Computrainer rides

It's that time. Those dreaded long trainer rides trying not to look at the clock and counting the days until training camp. For those that have a Computrainer, a good hilly ride that will punish a little but at least help keep your mind from boredom, try Powerman Alabama course. It's a 16.6 mile course that loops twice for a 33.6 mile ride, pretty good for an hour of your ride. It rolls up & down much more then the profile suggests and it peaks at 15% both up & down, so tighten that adj knob a little more then usual. I like using the course in the middle of my long ride, do a 15-30 warm-up, start the program, then finish easy the rest of my workout.... (view more)
