Denise Hochul
Masters Cyclist
Denise is a former Assistant District Attorney and now employed as an attorney for the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security, Denise started out as a competitive distance runner and developed a love for cycling while recuperating from an endless succession of injuries as a result of overtraining. After switching gears and competing in bodybuilding and figure competitions for several years, Denise's affinity for cycling was rekindled when she began to take part in spinning classes at a local gym. Afte completing the 45 mile portion of the Ride for Roswell this Spring, Denise decided to get serious about cycling with an eye towards competing.
"After reading the althlete bios on Peter's website and hearing about his reputation as a coach and mentor from other cyclists in the community and being possessed of an extremely competitive nature, I began to train with Peter in August, 2009. Even though I have only trained with Peter for a short time, I have already seen changes in my fitness level. Significantly, I feel much stronger physically; and Peter's workouts, while incredibily demanding, do not dip into that unhealthy area of overtraining which caused so many of my injuries in the past. Peter is also very accessible if questions arise regarding workouts, and also takes the time to explain, in very specific terms, the rationale behind the workouts and the future effects and intended results of the plan. Although new to the concept of the Power Meter, I see the value in having a historical record of past workouts to chart progress and contemporaneous feed back when out on a training ride to ensure that goals are met." - Denise
Denise recently competed in her first time trial, taking second place in the Class C Race. She intends to hit the roads riding in 2010, and compete in time trials and races."
