Western Dominates the ESG Points Race
Day three of the ESG was the Points race in East Aurora. The Western team was ready and motivated. They entered the third day of competition with a 148 point lead on the next closest team. This race was critical since the Women's team is short riders and will not be able to compete in the team time trial tomorrow without the minimum number of riders.

Traci Cummings (Western) started the day by grabbing points on each of the days 5 sprint laps and grabbed the Silver Medal. That nabbed 66 points for the team but the second place Adirondack team grabbed Gold, 4th and 5th.

The Western Men's team took their race by storm. They went to the front early and applied pressure from the start. Craig Polston flew off the front and grabbed the first sprint of the day while Jay Joslyn, Brendan Housler and Jose Alvergue swept the rest of the points. They couldn't be stopped from there. Jay Joslyn flew off the front grabbing the next sprint and they finished with Brendan Housler flying off the front and lapping 8 riders putting them down by 20 to 40 points and he finished as the first over the line. In the end Western Men swept the podium and the 4th place spot. This along with strong rides by the other team members extended their lead in the Team competition to 280 points. They will need all of them considering the Women's side will get no points tomorrow. Stay tuned.

I would also like to wish well Gavin Robertson (NYC). Gaving was involved in a crash on one of the earlier sprint laps and was banged up pretty good. Gavin is one of the CRCA/Foundation team members sponsored by Plan2Peak. Get well Gavin.
